In order to achieve a structurally simple arrangement in the case of a magnetically supported rotor, the electrical machine for coupling the energy in and out is designed such that it can also carry out the supporting function. A split into two magnetically mutually independent units, an axial field arrangement and a radial field arrangement, is provided for this purpose. In consequence, it is possible to carry out the control of the support of the rotor with the aid of the field setting of the machine in 5 degrees of freedom. A continuously acting force in one direction is in this case assumed in the axial direction. In order to control the normal force, the machines are each divided into 4 separately controllable winding quadrants whose energy conditioning is carried out by invertors. The normal forces are controlled by varying the phase angle of the current distribution, while the drive force is determined by the magnitude of the current amplitude. In this way, a very compact structural form is achieved for the entire unit, together with high energy conversion quality and minimising of interactions between the subsystems which control the magnetic field. |
