In a process for removing suspended solids from liquids, the liquids are passed through a filter medium made of organic polymer compounds having a reticular structure. In order to achieve in a simple and economical manner as complete as possible a separation even of finely suspended solids at low resistance to flow and long operating life of the filter medium, it is envisaged to use as filter medium filter elements flocked with short fibres as far as the interior.
