The apparatus serves to machine a gear (1) by the rotary-feed or plunge-feed method and comprises several synchronously rotating tools (10, 20, 30) which are offset from one another in the peripheral direction and axial direction of the gear (1) and the axes (12, 22, 32) of which are skewed relative to the gear axis (3). The machining widths of the tools (10, 20, 30) on the gear (1) adjoin one another or overlap. Wide gears can thereby also be machined with the rotary-feed or plunge-feed method. <IMAGE>
