In a circuit arrangement for driving an electrically operated vibration generator (V) of a massage appliance, one or more series-connected tilt switches (S1, S2, ..., SN) are located in one or in both lines which lead from a voltage source (U) to the vibration generator (V). The series-connected tilt switches are bridged by resistors of different values (R1, R2, ..., RN). By changing the position of the tilt switch or switches, the supply of energy from the voltage source (U) to the vibration generator is controlled. Since the position of the tilt switch or switches varies continuously during the massage, the vibration generator (V) generates irregular non-monotonic vibrations which enhance the sense of bodily well-being during the massage. In the case of monotonic vibrations, by contrast, an adaptation to the massage stimulus would lead to a lower sense of well-being. The circuit arrangement can be retrofitted in many massage appliances. <IMAGE>
