An array substrate for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to cut a signal line through an etching process in a redundancy pixel area, thereby implementing a large LCD without a defect caused by particles. A substrate is prepared. (M X N) display pixels and (m X n) redundancy pixels are formed on the substrate by (M+m) gate lines(207) and (N+n) data lines(209). A defect of the formed pixels is confirmed. If there is no defect in the pixel, an etching process is performed to make the redundancy pixel be in a non-driving state. The above etching process is for cutting the gate or data line formed in a redundancy pixel area through an etching process. |
