The coupling device (15) intended to achieve a solid, although optionally removable connection of supermarkets carts (10) or the like is provided with a coupling mechanism comprising a coupling catch bolt (20), a connector (22) and a lock (50) which may be manoeuvred between a connector locking position and a connector releasing position, which lock can be actuated only after inserting a coin (48) or a token (48) as unlocking means to a connector releasing position, the unlocking means (48) being locked upon uncoupling and being released again only upon a new coupling of the connector (22). The actuation of the lock (50) to the uncoupling position releasing the connector (22) is carried out by means of an unlocking member (28) which may be hand-operated and which may be coupled with the lock (50) only through the unlocking means (48) thereby establishing a co-operation relationship between the unlocking member (28) and the lock (50). |
