PURPOSE:To coat the surface of a substrate material at any part with an arbitrary quantity of metal by dissolving a metal in an organic substance-containing solution in the form of metallic ions and by irradiating the resulting solution with light. CONSTITUTION:The substrate material 1 is immersed in the solution 2 in which at least one kind of organic substances is contained and the metal as coating material is dissolved in the form of metallic ions in a vessel 3. Subsequently, the above solution 2 is irradiated with light from a light source 4. Then the metallic ions excited by the light irradiation and the organic substance are subjected to oxidation-reduction reaction so as to coat the surface of the substrate material 1 with a metal formed by reduction of the metallic ions. As to the above metallic ions, platinic ions etc. forming out of platinic potassium chloride etc. are used by 1-5 kinds. Moreover, metallic coating with arbitrary patterns by light irradiation through a patterned masking material is enabled and further the characteristics and quantity of the coating metal can be controlled by controlling the conditions of light irradiation. |
