PURPOSE:To improve the yield of the titled compound useful as a raw material of agricultural chemicals, eposy hardener, etc., easily, without causing side reactions, by using a catalyst containing palladium and copper as essential elements in the isomerization of 4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylic acid anhydride. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound is produced by carrying out the isomerization of 4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylic acid anhydride in the presence of a catalyst containing palladium and copper as essential elements, at 150-200 deg.C in an inert atmosphere without using a solvent. The catalyst containing palladium and copper can be prepared e.g. by preparing a palladium catalyst supported on activated carbon, alumina, etc., impregnating a solution of a soluble copper salt in the palladium catalyst, and drying and calcining the product. The atomic ratio of copper to palladium is preferably about 1-5, and the ratio of palladium to the carrier is preferably about 0.5-5wt%. |
