The invention relates to a device 17 for intense homogeneous and directional lighting of a sensitive zone 1 oriented along the axis of a stage (scene) 3. It includes: a remotely situated light source; a flexible bundle 35 constituted by a plurality of optical fibres 37; primary means for holding the input end of the bundle 35 so as to place its entrance aperture opposite the light source; means 51 for shaping the output end 49 of the bundle 35 and flattening all the constituent fibres 37 in order to make an elongate output aperture 52; secondary means 55 for holding the output end 49 of the bundle 35 of optical fibres 37 so as to position the axis x2, x'2 of the output aperture 52 parallel to the axis X' X' and to direct the axis t2, t'2 of the output end 49 in the direction of the central part of the zone 1 to be illuminated. The invention finds a particularly advantageous application in making a lighting system 17 for a linear camera. <IMAGE>
