A stream of slide members, consisting of a plurality of slide members arranged in endless sequence, is used as a transport medium for a dog entraining the toy vehicle, the stream of slide members being located immediately below the track surface in a guide system (e.g. a channel) and forming a circuit when the track is assembled to form a circular path. By driving a transmission engaging into this circuit, the slide members are automatically advanced, driving each other, a non-specific number of slide members being equipped with an entraining mechanism (e.g. a magnet). The toy vehicle merely needs to be equipped with, for example, a magnet on its underside in order automatically to follow the stream of slide members when placed on the toy track.
