Liq. crystal seven-segment display - has conductive spacers connecting outer metallisation regions on base layer to upper electrode

The display has an upper transparent layer with a thin transparent conductive coating on its underside forming an upper electrode. A middle layer has a hollow portion and contains the liq. crystal. There are two conductive spacing members connecting two outer metallisation stripes on the base to the upper electrode. The base layer has seven metallisation regions on its surface in the usual seven-segment form. Each metallisation portion has a corresp. terminal strip at one edge of the base layer. Two legs are electrically connected through the base layer to the outer-upper-electrode contacts, and can be soldered into a PCB.
