The system constructs a pattern of the distribution of absorption into a body surface, generating data signals representing radiation absorption along a series of parallel tracks on the surface concerned. By interpolation between these signals further signals are obtained representing absorption along a larger number of such tracks. At each of a number of predetermined points the data signal or other ones are allocated belonging to the track whose centre is closest to the point concerned. Interpolation is carried out by forming signals representing differences from the data extending to the mth order, m being at least equal to two of these difference signals. The subdivided differences are combined by continuous addition. |
