An amorphous coil core has the following general formula: Co1-x-y-zFexNiyMnz)100-a-b-cMaSibBc, where M indicates at least one element selected from the group consisting of Cr, Mo, W, V, Nb, Ta, Ti, Zr, Hf, Cu, Ag, Au and the elements of the rare earths, a, b and c each indicate proportions in atom % which satisfy the expressions: 0 </= a </= 6, 8 </= b </= 18, 7 </= c </= 18 and 18 </= b+c </= 30, and x, y and z each satisfy the following expressions: 0 </= x </= 0.1, 0 </= y </= 0.2 and 0 </= z </= 0.13. The amorphous coil core has a saturation magnetic flux density of 0.5-0.8 T, a rectangularity ratio (hysteresis ratio) of less than 30% and a relaxation ratio (field collapse ratio) of 75% or more. Owing to the suitably balanced combination of the saturation magnetic flux density, the rectangularity ratio and the relaxation ratio, this amorphous coil core shows a strongly reduced core loss and a small temporal change ratio (hysteresis behaviour).
