A hot-gas bypass control for the refrigerant circuit of a freezing compressed-air dryer or the like is described, in which the refrigerant circuit comprises a series connection of compressor, condenser, gas/refrigerant heat exchanger and return run line to the compressor and the compressor outlet is connected to the compressor inlet via a bypass line comprising a valve which is controlled by the temperature or the pressure of the refrigerant situated in the bypass line, there being arranged additionally in the bypass line an in/out valve which can be controlled via a thermostatic switch which is controlled by the cooled gas emerging from the gas/refrigerant heat exchanger.
