Grinding wheel-changing system for grinding machines

A grinding wheel-changing system for grinding machines, in particular for cylindrical surface grinders with large grinding wheels, is described. This system has means for moving the grinding spindle head (7) with the grinding spindle (7a) into a changing position, a grinding wheel changer (14) and a movable grinding wheel deposit (18). The grinding wheel changer consists of a changing console (16) and a changer head (17) which is swivellably arranged on the latter, takes up the grinding wheels (11a, 11b) in horizontal axial alignment from the grinding spindle (7a) and delivers them in vertical axial alignment to the grinding wheel deposit (18a), and which has at least one gripping arm (22, 23) with gripping means (24) for taking up and holding grinding discs. The grinding wheel deposit (18) is equipped with grinding wheel receptacles (28, 29) with substantially vertically extending axes for the horizontal reception of the grinding wheels. <IMAGE>
