A display device for an electric cooker, especially for a baking and roasting oven, which can optionally be operated in one of at least two operating modes, namely, for example, in a conventional manner with upper and lower radiant heating or with hot-air circulation, having a selector switch for selecting one of the two operating modes and having a temperature selection knob as a temperature regulator for setting the baking and roasting oven temperature for the respective baking or roasting range (operating range) and the same baking and roasting oven temperature is set considerably higher for the baking or roasting range (operating range) in the "radiant heating" operating mode than in the "hot-air circulation" operating mode, and an additional switching device (which can be operated by rotation of the temperature selector knob) is coupled to the temperature regulator, which additional switching device is constructed such that, while taking into account the selected "radiant heating or hot-air circulation" operating mode and the respectively set "baking or roasting oven temperature", the operating range which is in each case switched off in the selected operating mode is intrinsically displayed by a feedback message. The display device consists of an alphanumeric device which can be activated by the operating mode selector switch and the temperature selector knob for operating sequences (operating positions) which can be selected for the baking and roasting oven temperature regulator.
