An apparatus is described, composed of a gas scrubber or air scrubber and the blower for achieving the air throughput, in which the fan blades or vanes are sprayed with liquid. As a result, an additional mass transfer and energy exchange surface is obtained, the efficiency of which is particularly high because of the high relative velocity between the media. The device, moreover, produces a very good spreading and distribution of the air stream and liquid droplets conducted onto the filter surfaces, especially if the fan housing is short and ends, for example in the case of axial fans, in an outlet nozzle.
