The invention relates to a holding device 1 for the cutter cable 7 of a winning machine 2 in underground mining. This holding device 1 is equipped with a clamping bush 10 which encloses the cable end, acts via a tension member 12 on a force transducer 14 and produces a signal, defining the tensile loading of the cutter cable 7, for switching off the machine winch. According to the invention, a load-measuring pin 14 forms the force transducer. It is located in an extension 15 of the holding device 1 above the entry opening 5, through which the end of the cutter cable passes into the machine body, and lies with the entry opening 5 in a common perpendicular plane of symmetry running transversely to the travelling direction of the machine.
