The briquetting machine for briquetting fibrous materials, such as wool waste, cotton waste, straw and the like, comprises an extrusion press, which presses the material, which is conveyed via an inlet region between the turns of a worm, into a conically tapering mould, to the outlet end of which a pressing gripper is joined, which comprises an outside tube having a cylindrical inside cross-section. In order to achieve a homogeneous coefficient of friction in the pressing gripper, and therefore to avoid blockages in the pressing gripper, provision has been made for the inside circumference of the outside tube of the pressing gripper to be coated with a non-metallic sliding coating.
