Flat semifinished products are processed in cutting machine tools in such a way that free forms of the same or different dimensions and shapes are cut out and are fed for further processing. The remainder of the original semifinished product is waste. The problem with such machines is that the cut-out workpieces are to be supported during further processing of the semifinished product and are to be conveyed out of the machine when the operating cycle has been completed. The invention provides at least one endless conveyor belt for supporting and conveying the semifinished product and the cut-out workpieces which is guided in the region of the cutting tool via a deflection roller in such a way that the deflection roller moves concomitantly with the tool in the conveying direction and that the supporting device is designed in such a way that the cutting tool operates in a narrow gap transversely across the supporting and conveying surface. <IMAGE>
