Regeneration of sandy arid soils

The process consists of (A) treating the soil with a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertiliser opt. contg. lignite enriched with humus substitutes; (b) implanting plastics drainage tubes of 5-90 mm. dia. equipped with trickle valves at 1.5-4 m. intervals in the soil as a means of sub-soil irrigation; and (c) implanting a sheet of plastics or asphaltic chemicals of 20-200 cm. width below the pipes to form a striated, impermeable layer which prevents excessive loss of water and nutrients.
