The method involves applying a moisture absorbent material on or around an end of a stem bundle. A fluid-tight closure in the form of a shrink tube is provided around the stem bundle. The closure closes a head end of a flower stalk bundle. The closure extends to a tube open end in sealing contact with the flower stalk bundle under supply of heat at a part of the tube open end for shrinking, at downstream of the moisture absorbent material.
