PURPOSE:To enable the monitoring of the output of a laser beam accurately by a method wherein the wire connected to a photodiode chip is provided in the direction intersecting at right angle with the extended direction of the wire connected to a laser diode chip. CONSTITUTION:The wire 26 connected to a photodiode chip 25 is extended in the direction intersecting at right angle with the wire 18 which is connected to a laser chip 9. As a result, the laser chip 9 is not subjected to the influence of the electromagnetic induction by the current running on the wire 18 when the laser chip 9 is driven, and the monitoring of the laser beam output using a signal value detection can be performed in a highly precise manner. Besides as the title device can also be used in a high frequency band, the device is suitable for the transmitter to be used for large capacitance communication.
