PURPOSE:To transport securely a paper by positioning an upper fixing roller at the upstream side of a transporting device in the transporting direction with respect to a lower fixing roller among a pair of upper and lower fixing rollers in terms of a fixing device. CONSTITUTION:The fixing device 18 holds the paper transported by the transporting device 10 between a pair of upper and lower fixing rollers 18a and 18b, heats, presses, and fixes a toner image on the paper. The upper and lower fixing rollers 18a and 18b of the fixing device 18 are disposed in such a way that a line alpha passing through both axial cores tilts to the upstream-side of the transporting device 10 in the transporting direction by the prescribed angle theta with respect to a perpendicular line beta passing through the axial core of the lower fixing roller 18b. Since the advancing direction of the paper transported by a guide member 20 comes to about a right angle with respect to the line passing through the axial cores of the upper and lower fixing rollers 18a and 18b, the tip of the paper advances securely between the upper and lower fixing rollers 18a and 18b. Thus the paper can securely enter between the upper and lower fixing rollers, and fixing can be securely executed.
