摘要

PURPOSE:To improve the wear characteristic during traveling by incorporating a block polymer of A-B type contg. a fluoroalkyl group as one component on the outermost surface layer on a magnetic recording layer side. CONSTITUTION:The block polymer of A-B type contg. the fluoroalkyl group as one component is incorporated into the outermost surface layer on the magnetic recording layer side of a magnetic recording medium having the magnetic recording layer on a nonmagnetic substrate. The fluoroalkyl group which is a functional segment orients in the surface of such protective layer of the A-B type block polymer contg. the fluoroalkyl group as one component or the magnetic layer incorporated therein, by which the contact angle of the coated film surface with water is increased and the water repellency is remarkably improved. Since the fluoroalkyl group is oriented in the surface, a decrease in the coefft. of friction is admitted and the remarkable effect of improving the lubricity and wear resistance is obtd. Substantial corrosion resistance is obtd. as well.
