PURPOSE:To make it possible to shorten the measuring time of bodily temp. and to reduce power consumption, by mounting a temp. sensitive part to a preheating jig to start preheating and detaching the same to finish preheating. CONSTITUTION:A preheating port 3, in which the temp. sensitive part 2a of a clinical thermometer main body 2 is inserted, is formed to a preheating jig 1 and a preheating means 4 comprising a heater for preheating the temp. sensitive part 2a is provided in the preheating port 3 and connected to the switch 5 and power source 6 mounted in the preheating jig 1. The switch 5 is closed when the temp. sensitive part 2a is inserted in the preheating port 3 and the power source 6 is connected to the means 4 to operate the means 4 and the preheating of the temp. sensitive part 2a is performed. When the temp. sensitive part 2a is withdrawn from the preheating port 3 after the completion of preheating, the switch 5 cuts off the connection of the power source 6 and the means 4 to finish preheating. Because the preheating due to the means 4 is performed only when the temp. sensitive part 2a is inserted by the switch 5 as mentioned above, the consumption of the power source 5 can be reduced.
