PURPOSE:To provide a water jet type hot steel sheet cooler which can increase cooling capacity and can uniformly heat the hot steel sheet in the transverse direction as well by specifically constituting plural pairs of water jet nozzles provided to face each other by vertically sandwiching the steel sheet therebetween. CONSTITUTION:Plural sets of two pieces a set of the slit-like water jet nozzles 5 inclined in the direction where the nozzles face each other atop the hot steel sheet 1 progressing in a direction (d) on rolls 4... arranged in parallel within the same plane are provided above the steel sheet 1. The nozzles 6 of the same constitution are also disposed to face each other below the sheet 1. A partition plate 8 is spanned between a set of the nozzles 6 (likewise with 5) by bringing the ends thereof into contact with the nozzle edges. The plate 8 has a slit-like aperture extending in the transverse direction of the sheet 1 at approximately the central part along the direction (d) and plural baffle plates 12 extending in the direction (d) on the surface. Then the cooling water is gushed from the nozzles 5, 6 and collides against the sheet 1, thereby cooling the sheet. The cooling water is held in the spaces enclosed of the jets thereof and the plates 7, 8 and the flow in the transverse direction of the sheet 1 is prohibited by the plates 11, 12. The cooling water flows in parallel with the direction (d) while cooling the sheet 1 and is discharged from the apertures 9, 10. |
