The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing thin snail shells having an appearance which is close to that in nature, with a mould of parallelepipedal shape, which mould is divided into two and each part comprises one mould-cavity half, which communicates with the outside via an orifice. The manufacturing process which is the subject of the invention consists: in introducing a sufficient quantity of casting slip into the mould cavities of a mould via their corresponding orifices; in letting the casting slip harden; in draining off the excess from the mould cavities; in predrying, and then drying the moulded parts in the mould; in covering the moulded parts with a liquid enamel coating and in firing in a furnace.
