PURPOSE:To provide an acrylic fiber having a specific range of optical period along the direction perpendicular to the fiber axis and having high tensile strength and excellent abrasion resistance and compression recovery. CONSTITUTION:An acrylic fiber made from an acrylonitrile (co)polymer and having optical period of 0.1-20mum, preferably 0.5-20mum along the direction perpendicular to the fiber axis. Longer optical period can be observed in a fiber drawn with higher efficiency, and the presence of the optical period is a proof of excellent strength and elastic modulus. The tensile strength of the fiber is 3.0-12g/d and the fiber has excellent abrasion resistance and compression recovery. It can be used widely in the fields of industrial material and carbon fiber precursor, etc.
