PURPOSE:To obtain photochromic glass capable of baking at low temp. by adding a small amt. of Ag, Cu, and halogen to parent glass comprising P2O5, CaO, Na2O, B2O3, Al2O3, F2, etc., in a specified molar ratio. CONSTITUTION:Parent glass having a compsn. consisting of 20-55mol% P2O5, 15-55mol% RO (R is Ca, Zn, Ba, Mg, or Sr), 4-35mol% R2O (R is Li, Na, K, Cs), 0-20mol% B2O3, 0-20mol% Al2O3, and 0-18mol% F2 is prepd. 0.01-1mol% Ag, 0-0.02mol% Cu, and 0.2-4mol% X (X is Cl, Br, or I) are added to 100mol said parent glass to obtain a target photochromic coating glass compsn. The glass compsn. is used suitably for forming photochromic coating on a substrate causing deformation at high temp. or deterioration of strength such as slate plate, etc.
