PURPOSE:To obtain the titled resin capable of giving laminated boards having improved punchability, chemical and heat resistance, by reacting a resol type phenolic resin with a specified epoxidized polybutadiene under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:An epoxidized polybutadiene having 500-5,000 number-average molecular weight, >=70% 1,4-bonds and >=3wt% oxirane oxygen content is added to a reaction system in or after synthesizing a resol type phenolic resin to advance the reaction of the resol type phenolic resin with the epoxidized polybutadiene. The reaction is carried out until the content of the oxirane oxygen becomes <=90% based on the raw material epoxidized polybutadiene to afford the aimed resin.
