<p>PURPOSE:To obtain lithium aluminate powder suitable for a raw material of a tile for an electrolyte of a molten carbonate cell by mixing Al alkoxide with an Li compd. in the presence of a nonaqueous solvent, hydrolyzing Al alkoxide in the specified conditions and calcining it. CONSTITUTION:Al alkoxide is mixed with an Li compd. selected from among inorganic acid salt, organic acid salt, hydroxide and oxide in the presence of a nonaqueous solvent. 1.5-20mol water (water of crystallization of an Li compd. is contained.) is added to 1mol Al alkoxide while stirring it and the mixture is allowed to react with each other and thereafter gamma type Li aluminate powder is obtained by calcining a solid content obtained by removing the solvent at 650-1,000 deg.C. This gamma type Li aluminate is small in grain size and has a large specific surface area of about <=15m<2>/g.</p> |
