PURPOSE:The titled resin which is a copolymer of methyl methacrylate with a comonomer, having a specific residual monomer content, percentage of elongation, total luminous transmittance, melt index and heat deformation temperature and improved grindability and strength, injection moldable and useful for lenses, etc. CONSTITUTION:A methacrylic resin, obtained by copolymerizing 50-99.5wt% methyl methacrylate with 0.5-50wt% another vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith in the presence of a dispersing agent and having <=0.7% residual monomer content, 1-8% percentage of elongation measured by ASTM D638, >=90% total luminous transmittance measured by ASTM D1003, 5-100g/10min melt flow rate (MFR) (at 230 deg.C under 38kg load) measured by ASTM D1238, >=80 deg.C heat deflection temperature measured by ASTM D648, satisfying the formula (MFR is expressed by x; the heat deflection temperature is expressed by y) and present in the shadowed region in the figure.
