PURPOSE:To improve horizontal resolution with raising an S/N and making color reproductivity better and also, making a luminance signal area wider by performing the scanning of an image pickup tube in the longitudinal direction of the stripe of a color stripe filter and color-multiplexing it with a comparatively low carrier. CONSTITUTION:A signal obtained from an image pickup tube 1 on which a color stripe filter 1a is provided is AD-converted at a converter 3 through a pre-amplifier 2 and is written at a field memory 4 in order in the directions of points a11, a12..., a21, a22..., a31, a32.... The information signal is read out in order in the rectangular direction to a write direction of points a11, a21..., a12, a22..., a13, a23... and is DA-converted at a converter 5. The signal obtained by a DA conversion is AD-converted and is written in the scanning direction and is read out from a memory in the rectangular direction to the scanning direction and with DA-converting at least a pair of color stripe filters, a continuous color multiplexing signal is obtained and is color-demodulated at a color demodulation circuit 6.
