The combined apparatus for the projection and back-projection of slides contained in a rotary circular basket comprises second and third mirrors (8, 9) which are retractable away from the light beam, in conjunction with the first mirror (7) in direct projection position and which are arranged, in back-projection position so that the second mirror (8) receives the light beam reflected upwardly and rearwardly by the first mirror (7) and in that it deviates the beam towards the third mirror (9) which upwardly and rearwardly reflects the light beam into the back-projection screen (11) mounted inclined from bottom to top and from back to front on the upper face of the apparatus.
