PURPOSE:To reduce the pivotable amount of an auxiliary steering gear necessary for deviation property generated in a main steering gear and the turbulence produced by the auxiliary steering gear to improve the maneuverability, by providing a pivotable shaft of the auxiliary steering gear interlocked with the main one in the stern to provide an over-balance steering gear. CONSTITUTION:The front portion of a hull of a shaft bracket 6 is cut off, and in this cut-off portion 6a is disposed an auxiliary steering gear 7. This auxiliary steering gear 7 and a main one 2 are pivotably supported through shafts 8, 9 as pivotable shafts extending through the ship bottom 3 in the liquid tight manner. The shaft 9 of the auxiliary steering gear 7 is provided on the stern side thereof and the bow side of the auxiliary steering gear 7 is swung about the shaft 9 when said gear 7 is pivoted to provide an overbalance steering gear to the advancing direction of the ship.
