PURPOSE:To decide a shape for cross section of tunnel by receiving sonar positional information of a tunnel cross section measuring instrument from a microcomputer which controls laser beam controller arranged at the tunnel entrance side. CONSTITUTION:The sonar 4 of the cross section measuring instrument 3 is provided at the center of the tunnel section. The first microcomputer 2 controls the laser beam direction controller 1 and induces the laser beams L to the measuring instrument 3 and detects the position of the sonar 4. At this time, the microcomputer 2 calculates the eccentric positions dX and dY in the X and Y directions of the sonar 4 by a distance (l) and the direction of the beams L. When the 2nd microcomputer 5receives the positional information of the sonar 4 from the microcomputer 2, it decides the sectional shape of the tunnel by combining said information with information on the sectional shape calculated by the sonar 4.
