PURPOSE:To obtain a compact supporting structure which can support a valve bridge guide rigidly without damaging the horizontal passages for cooling liquid by improving the installation position and installation structure of the valve bridge guide. CONSTITUTION:A cylinderhead 1 is divided into the upper and lower cylinderheads 1b and 1a. The horizontal passages I and J for the cooling liquid and a bridge guide installation hole 30 which crosses with said passages I and J are formed onto the upper cylinderhead 1b, and a bridge guide 25 is installed from the below into the installation hole 30. An annular passage 33 for the cooling liquid is formed by the annular groove on the outer peripheral part of the bridge guide 25 which crosses with the horizontal passages I and J. Therefore, the supporting rigidity of the bridge guide 25 can be improved, and the horizontal passages I and J in the upper cylinderhead 1b can be installed at the optimum position, permitting the cooling of the brige guide 25.
