PURPOSE:To optimize the glow plug control by installing at least two engine temperature detectors which are turned-ON/OFF by different threshold values and installing timers which generate outputs having the different length according to the engine starting state. CONSTITUTION:A main circuit and a sub circuit connected to a battery B through a glow resistor 18 are provided as the heating circuit for a glow plug GP, and controlled by a main relay 20 and a subrelay 22, respectively. The main relay 20 is controlled by the output A of a cooling-water temperature detector 10 having a threshold value of 20 deg.C, AND output B of the denial signal B1 of a starter and the charge-lamp relay signal B2, and the OR output D of the output C of a timer 16 which is turned-ON after about 5sec from the turning-ON of a key switch. Further, the subrelay 22 is controlled by the OR output G of the output E of a cooling-water temperature detector 12 having a threshold value of 40 deg.C and the output F of a timer 14 which is set after about 15sec when the AND output B is L, and after about 120sec if the AND output B is H.
