PURPOSE:To enable easy input of scale-up characters in an electronic equipment which has document editing function, by providing a storage means to store control codes with indicate by pushing a scale-up character key in a document memory which corresponds to digits of scale-up characters. CONSTITUTION:If a key 2 which is pushed is the scale-up character key 3, the character which is indicated by a cursor register CR is moved to the next digit position, and a scale-up character control code ' ' is stored. Then, the scale-up character control code (the arrow indicating a right upper direction) is stored under one line below the character position indicated by the cursor register CR. And then, a scale-up character control code ' ' is stored under one line below the next digit of the character position of the cursor register CR. Then, the cursor is advanced by two digits. Subsequently, a display is carried out on a display device on the basis of the contents of the cursor register CR. Thus, by merely pushing the scale-up character key 3, any character in a document may be scaled up, and since scale-up character designation per each character in one line is feasible, the input of scale-up characters is easily performed.
