<p>PURPOSE:To increase the storage effect of the title catalyst by depositing rhodium and platinum on a monolith carrier coated with an activated alumina layer contg. >=1 kinds among cerium oxide, praseodymium oxide and terbium oxide. CONSTITUTION:One or more kinds among reduced berthollide oxides of cerium oxide, praseodymium oxide and terbium oxide is incorporated into activated alumina powder wherein cerium is previously incorporated and the obtained preparation is deposited on the surface of a monolith carrier substrate. Then the monolith carrier is dried and baked to obtain a catalyst carrier. A water-soluble salt of platinum, rhodium and palladium such as rhodium chloride, platinum chloride and palladium chloride is deposited on the catalyst carrier by a dipping process and the material is dried, baked and molded to obtain a exhaust gas purifying catalyst. About 1-50wt.%, expressed in terms of metal, of the berthollide oxide is preferably added to the activated alumina expressed in terms of metal.</p> |
