PURPOSE:To produce a cake containing bean jam wrapped with a pastry sheet, e.g. a high-quality SAKURA-MOCHI (a bean paste rice cake wrapped in a cherry leaf) utilizing the unique surface pattern of a shaping vessel, by throwing a definite amount of glutinous rice for forming the outer shell into a top-opened shaping vessel and stamping the glutinous rice lightly with a pestle in a manner to enable the move of the glutinous rice in the vessel to some extent. CONSTITUTION:A definite amount of steamed glutinous rice A forming a part of the outer shell 12 is thrown into the top-opened shaping vessel 11 by its own weight, pushed lightly with a reciprocating pestle 11 to spread the glutinous rice along the inner wall surface of the vessel 10, and solidified as the primary outer shell 12. A preliminarily solidified bean jam 13 is thrown into the vessel 10 and placed on the primary outer shell 12. A definite amount of glutinous rice A having the same quality as the above glutinous rice and forming the remaining part of the outer shell is thrown into the vessel 10 by its own weight and placed on the bean jam. The assembly is pushed lightly with the reciprocating pestle 14 to bond and integrate the secondary outer shell 15 to the primary outer shell 12. The bean jam 13 is wrapped completely with the shells. The produced wrapped bean jam is taken out of the vessel 10 by turning the vessel upside down or by opening the bottom of the vessel.
