PURPOSE:To monitor an optical output, and to stabilize the optical output from a light-emitting diode at all times by incorporating the light-emitting diode and a light-receiving element into the same package. CONSTITUTION:A light-emitting diode 2, a light-emitting surface thereof is formed to a domed shape, is fixed at the center of the main surface of a stem 1 made of a metal through a sub-mount 3. Four leads 5 are penetrated and fastened to the stem 1 in an insulating manner through glass 4. Two leads 5 among four leads 5 function as leads 6 for the light-emitting diode, and upper ends projected onto the main surface of the stem 1 are connected electrically to bonding pads 8 formed to the main surface of the sub-mount 3 through wires 7. Wide light-receiving element fitting sections 19 are set up to sections projected onto the main surface of the stem 1 of one leads 18 for the light-receiving element. The light-receiving elements 20 are fixed to the fitting sections 19. The fitting sections 19 are inclined so that beams emitted from the light-emitting diode chip 2 collide with the light-receiving surfaces of the light-receiving elements 20. Anode electrodes or cathode electrodes for the light-receiving elements 20 and the leads 18 for the light-receiving elements are connected by wires 22. |
