PURPOSE:To generate a strong magnetic field to a recording medium by prolonging the 1st and 2nd magnetic poles over the entire recording region in the 1st direction of the recording medium and arranging an optical head having a magnetic path forming member opposite to the 1st and 2nd magnetic poles clipping the recording medium so as to connect both ends of the magnetic core wound with a coil to the 1st and 2nd magnetic poles. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic flux of an electromagnetic coil 9 wound the surrounding of the magnetic core 11 reaches a central magnetic pole 5 through a yoke 13 from one end of the magnetic core 11 and reaches a magnetic path forming member 21 from the center magnetic pole 5 through a recording medium 1. Further, the magnetic flux returns to the magnetic core 11 from other yoke 15 through an outer magnetic pole 7 while penetrating through the recording medium 1 from the magnetic path forming member 21. The magnetic flux passes through the magnetic circuit. Thus, the magnetic flux is concentrated on a part where laser light from the optical head 17 is irradiated and the magnetic path forming member 21 of the recording medium 1 is located beneath, a strong magnetic field is applied to the part of the recording medium 1 to record or erase the information. |
