PURPOSE:To depress only twice a pushbutton for the entry of one character by assigning respectively a character group including 3 characters xxx to each pushbutton and sectioning the pushbutton into 3 groups of pushbuttons. CONSTITUTION:In giving entry of a character C by a caller, a numerical '2' button 11-2 is operated at first. A PB transmitter 12 generates a PB signal corresponding to the operated numerial '2' button 11-2 and sends it to an exchange 3 via a subscriber line 2. When the caller depresses an optional pushbutton (e.g., a numerical '9' button 11-9) belonging to a right pushbutton group 11R in order to designate the character 'C' in a character group 'ABC', the PB transmitter 12 generates a PB signal corresponding to the depressed numerical '9' button 11-9 and sends it to the exchange 3 via the subscriber line 2.
