PURPOSE:To remove alkaline elements on an electrode at a short time and with a small amount of water, by making a sintered nickel electrode plate, which comprises a sintered sunstrate filled with an active material, to be formation-processed, rinsing-processed, and then positively electrolyzed in pure water. CONSTITUTION:A sintered nickel electrode plate is soaked in an aqueous solu tion of KOH, charge-and-discharge processed once for formation processing, and then rinsed for three minutes in a flow of pure water, to form a test elec trode plate. The electrode plate piece is soaked into a 0.8l volume and vinyl chloride resin-made jar which is equipped with paired known poles at both the sides and filled with pure water, positively electrolyzed with the pure water flowing at the rate of 5l/Hr, and time-passing change (A-D) of the alkaline amount remaining at the electrode plate piece is measured in the respective cases of electrolytic voltages, 50, 100, 200, and 300V. Use of positive electrolysis enables the amount of remaining alkali to be remarkably reduced at a short time. |
