PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a dust collecting installation and to reduce the cost of dust collection in the stage of collecting the generated in a blast furnace plant by means of a bag filter by backwashing the bag filter in the stage except the period when the flow rate of the dust is high. CONSTITUTION:The amt. of the dust discharged during tapping in the blast furnace operation is extremely high at the start and end of tapping and is low in an intermediate period. The dust is sucked by a fan 3 and is collected by the bag filter 4 having many filter cloth chambers. The damper of a duct 4 for backwashing is closed to filter and collect the entire dust up to the inside of a plant building with the bag filter 4 in the period when the amt. of the dust is large. The damper for backwashing is opened to apply a negative pressure to the filter 4 and to remove and wash away the dust deposited on the filter cloths of the filter 4 in the intermediate period when the amt. of the dust is small. Since the filter is not backwashed at the start and end of tapping, theinstallation having the capacity equal to the treating capacity for the amt. of the dust is simply required. The size of thedust collector is reduced and the lower cost of the dust collection is required.
