PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive and quick method which can measure an HSV antibody over a wide range with many objects by measuring the HSV antibody by a passive carrier agglutination method conjugating glycoprotein specific to HSV. CONSTITUTION:The glycoprotein specific to HSV generated on the cell membrane when the HSV is sensitized to various cells is extracted by a nonionic surface active agent (1-2%) such as 'TritonX-100(R)' and thereafter the glycoprotein specific to HSV is refined by utilizing the adsorption with a lentil lectin, etc. the refined HSV glycoprotein is irreversibly sensitized with a carrier such as glutaraldehyde by using a tannic acid, etc. to prepare a sensitive carrier for passive carrier agglutination reaction. The agglutination reaction is caused by using such antigen sensitized carrier, by which the HSV antibody is quickly measured.
