PURPOSE:To facilitate furnace operation while lowering m.p. of molten metal, by raising Si content in case ferrochrome, etc. having high chromium content is refined in a cokes packed type melting reduction furnace. CONSTITUTION:A system is constituted of a fluidized preliminary reduction furnace 2 and the cokes packing type melting reduction furnace 3, the furnace 3 is packed with cokes supplied from a cokes supplying apparatus 11, melting reduction waste gas is supplied to the furnace 2 from a gas exhausting apparatus 4, on the other hand, preliminarily reduced ores discharged from the furnace 2 are blasted from tuyeres 8, 8a. In the system, chromium ore fines and iron ore are supplied to the furnace 2 from an ore supplying apparatus 1, and discharged overflows are blasted in the furnace 3 from the tuyeres 8, 8a. In this case, flux is added to the furnace 2 from a flux adding apparatus 13, to control silicon content in molten metal in the furnace 3 to <=12% chromium content.
