PURPOSE:To sort multiple sheets at desired positions and reduce a load of an operator by providing a sheet shifting means shifting the stack position of sheets discharged from a printer as required. CONSTITUTION:When a shift direction switch is pressed, the rear end of a sheet 5 discharged from a printer is detected, and a drive shift roller 17 is brought into pressure contact with a driven shift roller 17a via the sheet 5. The rotation of a paper discharge roller is transmitted to a shaft 30 via a belt 25 and a pulley 31, and a conveyance action is applied to the sheet 5 by both shift rollers 17, 17a. In this case, a gear 29 is rotated together with the roller 17, but it is engaged with a fixed opposite gear 27 and is slid in an arrow F direction. Then, the sheet 5 passing between both shift rollers 17, 17a is discharged while being shifted, and the stack position is shifted by a predetermined quantity. Accordingly, printed sheets can be sorted at desired positions, and a load of an operator can be reduced.
